Writing for Public Relations: Media and Messaging

Writing for Public Relations: Media and Messaging (PRL 214), another required class teaches students the strategic writing process and media relations by understanding audiences, using AP style and giving presentations. The assignments are based on a corporation of our choice (Huda Beauty) throughout the semester.

Assuming the role of a senior public relations person at Huda Beauty, I had to write a news release about a new DEIA chair and how they will further improve the corporation's alignment to DEIA, incorporating a list of facts given by my professor. 

The requirement of composing a two-page fact sheet was to add appropriate and relevant information regarding Huda Beauty's history, key leadership and success. 

This assignment required me to independently research and present Huda Beauty's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility missions and, suggest further DEIA improvements and initiatives. 

For this assignment, I composed an email pitch to send to a journalist asking for something that will promote Huda Beauty in a newsworthy way, including at least two statistics.

This assignment was to create an email message as Huda Beauty's CEO encouraging employees to participate in a day of volunteering, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity. We were required to create multiple appropriate activities relevant to the brand.

This final assignment was to choose a topic and state my opinion using three substantive arguments. I also had to address at least one counter-argument.
